Hiking Trip

20th April 2008 - Sunday

I woke up at 6am and got ready and it was almost 6:45am when mom came down and said “I’m not driving ar, so you need to walk to college”. I was like, WTF NOW ONLY YOU TELL ME @#$%&*”. So I reached the bus stand at 7 and waited for the bus for 30mins, and by the time I reach TOA, it’s already 730. I was thinking, if the bus comes later than 7:30, I’m not going anymore. T_T

So then, the bus came around 8am++ and as usual, I sat alone. Not many people came. There were only 26 of us. A bunch of guys sat behind while Sam was sitting near me and I was trying to get some sleep but I kinda heard her saying something like “you must knock and ask so that they won’t kacau you (huh?!?)” then I turned to see Elicia and Helen was looking at Sam with the spooky face and Sam still so selamba telling her stories. We got “free” sandwiches (which it’s already counted in the 15 bucks) so ended up I did not get my sleep and listened to my iPod.

We arrived at 9am like that and I admit I was really really excited bout it as this is my first hiking trip ever. My mom doesn’t let me go to any hiking / camps before, so, this is kinda fun. Zab told us to walk in pairs and hold hands and walk together. I was thinking, is he serious or…? Then I saw Sam putting this mosquito repellent on her back and asked for some. Instead of donating blood to the mosquitoes, why don’t they donate to me instead? More like I need blood than they need my blood.

They started telling other people that you can’t call other people’s names. So ended up, my name is Espirit due to the shirt I’m wearing. There were so many people I’m not familiar with, like the bunch of Digi people. So we call each other nicknames. Surprisingly Nelson went too, so I was like, cool I know someone here.

Since I was wearing my dad’s sport shoes, and I didn’t wanna spoil my own sport shoes, so I have no idea how many decades the shoes is. Walked half way and the tapak of the shoes came out. At 1st it was just a bit, and it got worse and whoops, the whole thing came out. Zab tried to tie it with a dead leave but it doesn’t help. End up my left feet walked without a tapak (it actually feels much easier to walk. More light without the tapak). So the guys behind me were teasing and joking bout my shoes. “Not bad arh now is the best time to promote and advertise your Adidas shoes. Spoil also can tahan till now”.

The beginning of the track was easy; we just passed some bridges and some very flat slopes. Everyone chatted and I was nearly outta breath so I decided to just listen and laugh along instead having no breath to go further. We stopped a lot times as there were someone having period pain (that’s what I heard, but as I ask the ‘victim’, she said she had cirit birit). That kinda slowed us down a little but I don’t mind as I really need the rest to catch my breath. Nelson made the first heroic fall as his shoes and the slopes were slippery.

Zab, Wayne and their 2 friends, Benjamin and Airen (It sounds like it) guided us. The 4 of them were our main guides and they took us up the track. Airen looked bit like ang moh with muscular body woots. He’s got a really nice body to drool at.

We reached half way and decided to wait for the rest and gather around. I saw this bunch of worms underneath a tree. The worms looked like the one Fear Factor feeds the contestants. All wriggly and long and slimy and eeks. What came into my head was “is there anything dead underneath the worms? A dead body?!?” looks kinda gross. I wonder if anyone took a picture of it (perhaps not).

As we go deeper, the slopes are getting harder to climb and for once I’m so glad I’m tall with long legs so I can just stomp my feet on the rock instead of going sideways. And then there was this part that it was really slippery and dangerous that we need a rope to hang on to it. There wasn’t much roots for us to step onto it so we gotta like, depend on the rope so that we don’t fall. I was in front so I saw how they tied the rope. Benjamin and Airen did it professionally and I was like WHOA…

The next thing was mental fear. I’ve never been to the forest so I didn’t know how leeches look like. We past this bunch of thick forest and there were leaves everywhere. We stopped at the hut to gather everyone around and I saw something wriggly and hanging and I nearly screamed as I saw so many leeches!!! I’ve got like, 4 hanging on my clothes and one of it is trying to poke thru my thick Espirit shirt. I bet it was starving like shyt cos it was wriggling madly on my shirt. Then I checked everywhere and noticed there was this small little wound on my left hand. Probably there wasn’t enough blood for them to suck, so they left. It’s like a straw that’s stuck and you can’t suck anything into it. HAHA PADAN MUKA YOU SIITUUPEED LEECHES!!! They chosen a bad victim =3=

We passed by a bunch of kids in primary schools. They were all wet and happy. I bet they were thinking why we all looked so tired and bout to die. I’m wondering how the hell those kids get up there. Or maybe there’s another way and Zab brought us the danger zone @_@

FINALLY!!! Waterfall!!! I hear and smell the waterfall and can’t wait to dip my feet into the water. As we reach the place, one thing that scared me was, there were bees everywhere. They call it honey bees. Was even wondering if they’re dangerous or not, and I didn’t wanna touch or hurt them. Opened my bag pack and BREAD!!! FEWD!!! I was practically starving and I’d rather eat first then have fun.

I took off my muddy shoes and holy cow. Ever touch the cold water from the freezer where it’s gonna turn to ice but its still in water? That’s how the waterfall felt. It’s like dipping urself into freezer ice cold water and it got so cold that my lips turned purple in color, like those dead body. I wonder how those people can tahan so long sia. As soon as I walked towards the crowd, someone splashed water onto me and I was like, holy momma h~e~l~p!!! Then I started shivering like mad. I guess the whole time I was in the water, I shivered non stop. I managed to take some pics and hopefully I get to snatch some from the blog >_< I made a few new friends. Chat with a few people. Get to know some of them which were pretty cool.

We pack and left around 2pm. Going up was already challenging for me, but going down was even challenging as when you go down, you don’t climb / walk down. You either ROLL down or SLIDE down or FALL down. Yup, the 3 formulas of going down a mountain are roll, slide and fall. I only slide down and everyone start to have the idea of “hey, why no one brings a board so we can all just slide down instead?”

There were a few times when I actually looked around and ask myself, how come we never been through this way? Are we lost? Or maybe I’m too busy looking at the ground instead of the surroundings around me. We were given a long stick to keep ourselves balance so that we don’t fall. Someone knocked their head on the wall and it was a loud knock that I can hear “tok” and an “OOOWWWCCHHH”. That shows how tough and hard her head is.

It started to rain as we were near the bottom and everyone was practically running for it. More water, more wet, more mud. Someone’s shoes even changes color. From white shoes, to brown shoes. How high tech technologies these days can be. We reached the rest area at around 4-5pm and everyone changed their clothes including me. Some of the guys ‘bathe’ at the stream. I decided to go there to clean bits of the mud off my shoes and the since one of the tapak of my shoes came off I can feel the water going into my feet and it wasn’t as cold as the water above there.

We chat and joked and got to know some people there. Ducum was telling this guy she’s actually a tutor in AD and the guy fell for it, idiotically LMAO. The bus came at 6pm and as soon as we got into the bus, everyone was snoring and sleeping their heads off as we were all so tired. I was kinda glad I joined this trip. I really had fun and beginning to fall in love with hiking. I guess if there is another hiking in future, I’d be the first to say yes.
